Rob Hannaford: Your candidate for 3 May 2012
Local Labour Party members have re-selected Rob Hannaford, who has lived in the ward for over a decade, to be their candidate in St Thomas for the City Council Elections on Thursday 3 May 2012. Rob has been a City Councillor for St Thomas since 2004, and in addition to this has previous experience of being a Town, District and County Councillor. In these roles he has served on many committees, taken on the roles of chair, been a Deputy Mayor, lobbied and campaigned for local people, and secured neighbourhood improvements.
On the City Council he has taken a particular interest in the Community Scrutiny Committee, and the policy areas that it covers such as play areas , parks, and housing. Furthermore he has served as the Portfolio Holder for Environment and Leisure, and is now in his second term as Portfolio Holder for Housing and Community Involvement . He was a Governor at the Cowick First School, and is a founder Governor of the West Exe Children’s Centre that replaced it, and is also currently a governor at Montgomery School and Bowhill School.
Rob adds; “It’s a great privilege to represent St Thomas on the City Council. Over the years I have done my best to dedicate my time, energy and efforts to represent and care for St Thomas. We all know that our local area is a very special part of Exeter, and that despite being a busy urban environment we still have a real sense of community pride and strong neighbourhoods. This is all strengthened by our various schools, neighbourhood watch groups, churches, charities, sports teams, and local associations – together we are a community. If re-elected again I will carry on concentrating on local grass roots issues and neighbourhood concerns.”
