Live and Move are working with Exeter City Council and Devon County Council to find out if there are any improvements Newtown residents would like to see in their area. They want to hear your view, so they can design improvements that will increase the ways you can connect with other people in your community and move around safely and easily in the Newtown area. Anyone who knows Newtown can join in and give their view.

One of the aims is to make it easier for people to walk and cycle in Newtown, both because ‘Active Travel’ is good for our health and wellbeing and also to reduce traffic and carbon emissions, supporting the City Council’s Net Zero Carbon 2030 plan.

The Programme Lead, Exeter City Council’s, James Bogue said, “The first phase of this project lasts for four weeks. It’s a chance for people to tell Live and Move and the council how to improve their neighbourhood to make it easier to walk and cycle. We’re interested in people’s views on things like pavements, play areas, cycle paths, crossings, access, trees, the list goes on. We will read every comment, so we would encourage people to tell us whatever is on their mind. This is how we’ll be able to really understand what local people want and how to make changes to Newtown that will make a positive difference.”

The consultation is online, but residents in the Newtown area will be sent a letter inviting them to get in touch in other ways if they don’t have access or aren’t comfortable with the digital consultation platform.
