Exeter City Council gets only 8% of the Council Tax it collects

Exeter City Council collects your Council Tax on behalf of Devon County Council, the Police and the Fire Service. So they pass on 92% of the money collected and the Exeter City Council delivers its services using the remaining 8%.

The most common Council tax is Band D and the tax bill for the 2023 /24 in Exeter is divided as follows:

  • Devon County Council – £1,634.13
  • Devon & Cornwall Police – £261.56
  • Devon & Somerset Fire – £ 96.79
  • Exeter City Council – £175.13

That’s one of the lowest district council tax bills in the Country. Its only £3.36 a week for everything we get from the Exeter City Council.
