Exeter City Council collects your Council Tax on behalf of Devon County Council, the Police and the Fire Service. So they pass on 92% of the money collected and the Exeter City Council delivers its services using the remaining 8%.
The most common Council tax is Band D and the tax bill for the 2023 /24 in Exeter is divided as follows:

- Devon & Cornwall Police – £261.56
- Devon & Somerset Fire – £ 96.79
- Exeter City Council – £175.13
