Heavitree and Whipton Barton - Devon County Council Candidate
I am delighted to have been selected as Labour’s candidate for Heavitree and Whipton Barton Devon County Council seat for the election on the 6th of May. It’s a two-horse race between the Tories and Labour here, in 2019 it came down to just 40 votes.
The last year has exposed how 10 years of Conservative cuts have weakened the foundations of our vital public services, the Tories have cut Devon County Councils budget by 62% since 2010. This means less money for our schools, our NHS and for the maintenance of our roads. We need Labour councillors to continue to fight for investment in our local areas and to put communities, not cuts, at the centre of the recovery.
My key priorities are:
Support the delivery of improvements to our roads and to tackle parking issues by listening and working with residents
Prioritise the climate emergency in all decision making – including fighting for cycling improvements and committing to carbon neutrality by 2030
Campaign for better funding for our NHS and social care including a pay rise for our frontline workers
I have been a councillor in Devon before, and I currently live and work in Exeter. I have spent the last few years listening to residents on the doorstep and I look forward to speaking to you again when it is safe to do so. In the meantime, please do get in touch with any issues, concerns or ideas you may have
