Wearside and Topsham - Devon County Council Candidate
I am delighted to have been selected as the Labour candidate to represent Wearside and Topsham at the forthcoming County Council elections on 6th May.
I grew up in a rural, coastal village in Devon before moving away but I returned to live in Exeter over 10 years ago as I knew I wanted to bring my children up here. If elected, I will work hard to ensure that this area is a great place in which to grow up and grow old, where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
As an employment lawyer, I focused on diversity and inclusion with the aim of making workplaces fairer. I have worked on behalf of individuals and businesses and I have also volunteered for charities to support people with access to free legal advice.
I want to campaign for Devon to build back better from COVID-19. Some of my key areas of focus will be to: Prioritise climate change issues in all decision making; Push for fairer funding for schools and improved equality of access to good teaching for all ages in all areas of Devon; Campaign for better funding for the NHS to reduce health inequalities with better-integrated health and social care; Support sustainable and ethical businesses to grow and provide job opportunities and a strong local economy.
Above all, I will listen to local residents to make sure everyone’s voices are heard, including under-represented groups. If you have any concerns or ideas, please do get in touch.
