Heavitree - Exeter City Council Candidate
I am honoured and proud to have been selected as the Labour candidate to represent the residents of Heavitree Ward in the coming elections in May.
I was born in Exeter and lived in Woodwater Lane, raising my family in the area. I worked at the local supermarket becoming a trade union rep and have been involved in local community groups.
Two local successes of these groups were the campaigns for the local doctors’ surgery and the inclusion of the pharmacy at the supermarket which was greatly needed within the area. These campaigns were led by myself and Councillor Olwen Foggin.
I know the work of community groups is invaluable and throughout the pandemic, they have been a lifeline to so many. I look forward to meeting those groups and local residents so I can listen and learn about the issues and concerns within the ward.
Heavitree has many small businesses which add to the vibrancy of Heavitree, the pandemic has hit businesses hard and I would like to work with and listen to the Heavitree Traders Group.
I want to speak to you, the residents, and hope to be able to get about and meet as many as I can in the future. However, if you have any concerns or any issues to raise please do not hesitate to get in touch. As an individual who has always campaigned for equality, diversity and an inclusive society I hope to continue to do this for the benefit of the residents of Heavitree as your councillor.
