I was deeply saddened to hear of Ian’s death, I had known him for many years both as a Party member and as a fellow ‘allotmenteer’.

I have been organiser in Pennsylvania for the last couple of years, so if you deliver leaflets you have my thanks! I am on the General Committee and Executive Committee at present.
I have been a member of the Labour Party since the mid 1980’s however my past employment meant I was not politically free prior to December 2020.

I have strong local roots being Exonian born and bred. I currently live on Rosebarn Lane and have previously lived at Manston Rd in Polsloe both addresses being within the ward.
I stood as County Council candidate for Duryard Pennsylvania in 2021 substantially reducing the Tory majority to just 169.

In previous years I have been a Governor and Chair of Governors of Ladysmith School.
I have worked as a volunteer for Exeter Drugs Project and am currently the Chair of the Management Committee of Sylvania Community Stores and Café off Collins Road, which is evolving into a community hub.

I believe it is vitally important that we protect the large number of voluntary organisations which provide strong support in our communities and which could be heavily impacted by the predicted drop in living standards, high inflation and lack of government support. I therefore welcome the City Council support of Exeter Connect which is part of Exeter Community Initiatives.

I have an allotment on the Marypole and Mincinglake site in the Stoke Hill estate and am a member of the Bat Conservation Trust.

I believe the City Council must continue to pressure the County Council to green up our transport systems and pressurise Stagecoach regarding its very poor current level of service and high costs in our ward.

The current threat from developers to the Mincinglake Valley Park and the northern hills of Exeter must be resisted and we should publicise our opposition wherever possible.
