I feel fortunate to have been selected as the Labour City Council candidate for Duryard & St James in the upcoming local elections in May 2022.

I have lived in the ward for 45 years and regard it as my home.

I brought up my family here, finishing their education at Exeter College where I worked for over 20 years. I left to work nationally as an inspector for Ofsted and since my retirement in 2010, I have served as a Magistrate.

I have seen many changes during my time in the ward and have worked together with neighbours, friends, association and interest groups, to help make our city an accessible, attractive and people-friendly environment to live and work in.

I have been a member of the Resident’s Association for over 20 years, acting as chair and serving on the committee. We have worked hard to ensure there is a balance in our community between families, students, older and younger residents in the ward.

I am a keen advocate of preserving our green spaces, valley parks and playgrounds we have in our ward and maintaining these to a good and serviceable standard for all to use. Recent improvements in Wrefords Lane, Bury Meadow, Devonshire Place and Queen’s Crescent Garden have been well received.

We have much to be grateful for as residents of this historic city. I will do my best to help preserve the character of our ward and to support everyone who lives here in their efforts to maintain a thriving, balanced and mixed community we can all enjoy whether be students, people living on their own, families or visitors.
