Priory - One of your two Labour Candidates
It is gratifying to have been selected by Exeter Labour Party to stand again as a City Councillor in Priory Ward having represented the area since 2016 and been on the Council since 2008.
Labour is committed to building more council homes and have so far reached the 100 mark with up to 400 planned over the next ten years across the City. Alongside this work is in progress modernising and retro- fitting council homes to enable cheaper energy use. Shortly the St Sidwells Leisure Centre will open alongside the new bus station.
Within Priory Ward we campaigned alongside local residents against the development for housing of a prominent field above the Southbrook estate. We have supported the enhancement of the Ludwell Valley Park and the creation of a wild life haven at the former Northbrook golf course. The great importance of such green spaces became so evident during the recent pandemic. We support safer and calmer streets, safe cycling routes, residents parking and provision of new bus shelters.
Recently, we achieved a 2000 signature petition against the Boundary Commission proposal to move Priory Ward out of the Exeter Constituency into East Devon.
My long involvement in the trade union movement has been of value in dealing with numerous personal cases raised by residents including housing issues, potential homelessness, anti-social behaviour and the work of numerous committees.
I seek your continued support for the City Council election in May 2022.
