The May 2021 Elections
There are three elections on 6th May this year:
- Exeter City Council
- Devon County Council
- Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon and Cornwall
All three elections are being held at the same time this year and you will receive ballot papers for each election at the same time.
Exeter City Council Election
The City elections were due on 7th May 2020 but have been postponed until 6th May 2021. Each elected Councillor, in 2021, will be appointed for a three-year term, with a third of the 39 seats contested each year (one seat per ward).

This year there is also a by-election taking place in Mincinglake and Whipton ward after the sad death of Cllr Judith Paterson so there are two candidates for this Ward.
Devon County Council Election
Devon County Council elections are held on a four-year cycle on the first Thursday in May and the next is due on 6th May 2021. Each elected Councillor is appointed for a four-year term and all seats on the County Council are contested.

Police & Crime Commissioners Elections
Police & Crime Commissioner elections were due on 7th May 2020 but have been postponed until 6th May 2021. The Commissioner is appointed for a four year term.
The Labour candidate for the Police and Crime Commissioner is Gareth Derrick who stood in the 2016 election for this role.
