Exeter Labour party retains its majority on the city council, with 25 out of 39 councillors. Labour is proud to lead the council with the responsibility of setting priorities for the present and planning for the future in difficult times.
With such a clear majority it falls to Labour to lead in making the difficult decisions, shaping and sustaining services against a national picture of high inflation and ongoing government funding cuts.
Despite this, the diligent use of the city’s restricted capital funds has meant that Labour has led the Council to deliver world class, sustainable and award winning facilities in leisure, housing and care.
It has also invested prudently over many years in energy and carbon reduction projects. The latest being the city’s solar farm which became fully operational this year.
